Enjoying the journey.
Simple things really do hold my attention, but they do so with my full consent. I WANT to know how things work, I WANT to continue to discover and WANT to grow in a wide variety of ways.
Today’s picture is very simply a photograph of two pieces of colored glass but with a couple of mirrors either side of them. It’s called a ‘kaleidoscope’ and that in essence is a stunningly simple device/toy that has been around forever.
I know exactly how it works.
I understand the physics.
I get the interaction between mirror, light and color.
I even could easily MAKE one!
But the point here is not just that I want to understand it, or can tell you how it works (with quite some detail if need be), I actually ENJOY the device all the more BECAUSE I understand it!
Taking an interest in things around you, stopping to “smell the roses” as it were, is so much better for us than ploughing on regardless to the next thing and the next.
As we step gingerly into yet another new year, let’s not forget the details that have brought us this far. Stop and ask questions, grow, learn and above all, enjoy.
