Is “Blah” a word or a feeling?
Sometimes after a particularly long week I need to sit and do nothing in particular and just let my batteries recharge. Today for a while I watched trains go by but it really didn’t help too much. Coffee will be next, then perhaps a quick nap. Eventually the day will be gone. The idea of winding down and taking time out is really important isn’t it?
The concept isn’t new, “Remember the Sabbath day…” had a reason as Jesus put it, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of the people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:27)
Rest and relaxation is essential. These days, with all that’s going on, the idea of sitting around watching trains go by seems almost a criminal waste of time. I’ve learned though, that if I don’t sit and recharge, I’ll be “fit for nothing” and get even less done in the long run.
This post is several days late. (Sorry) sometimes priorities, including train watching, get in the way of other tasks. (I’m sure you’ll understand.) Rest days are important for me too. If I look ahead at the week and realize I’ll fly 20 times before I turn on this computer again I would probably tell you “Blah” is a feeling! The idea of taking a few moments in a hectic week or two to reflect, think of important thing rather than urgent, and enjoy realizing again God is still God, makes all the difference to me deciding if “Blah” is a word or a feeling. Let’s try to keep it a word!
