Home In Daylight

Last month my schedule had me flying all over the place! For a couple of weeks I barely saw home in daylight. During busy times, with one trip after another, it’s quite common to wake up and have to think for a moment to remember which city I’m in!

When I’m away, Hilary tries to keep me up to date with important things such as…
”The geese left earlier than usual tonight.”
”There was a lovely sunrise this morning, I’m sorry you missed it.”
”The deer were on the drive again this morning when I walked Sparky.”

Each extra detail helps to create a mental picture for me to imagine I’m home and not on another layover far away. I can imagine the geese circling as they honk to each other going higher and higher with each circuit of the lake before going “home” for the night. I wonder where they go each evening? But they are all gone by dark.
The deer are taking over! The drive is just their latest favorite place to be. I can imagine Sparky’s disapproval.

But the sunrise?

You have to be there to appreciate how lovely those can be. “I’m sorry you missed it,” is a significantly easier way to say it than try to describe the colors and feel of the spectacle.
Today the tables turned!

As I left for the airport for a daytime shift (I’m home every night this month) I took this picture and later sent it to Hilary. “There was a lovely sunrise this morning, I’m glad I was home to see it with you. I love you.”
