Anticipation

Anticipation.jpg

I've been chewing the first few verses of Hebrews 11 for the past while. "Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see." Hebrews 11:1 NLTOver the weekend I had a couple of hours to wait at a local event. Wandering around the various stalls I discovered "Roll Up Ice Cream" being made right there in front of me. As the strawberry ice cream was poured out before freezing and having fresh strawberries added, today's verse came to mind. The anticipation of the lovely ice cream on a hot afternoon was delightful. The process of making the treat takes something like five minutes. During the wait I had time to think. Why wasn't this time a problem? Why didn't I get impatient or fidgety? The solution to the mystery is simple; I knew what was coming! You may note that I did not waste time taking pictures of the finished product - patience only goes so far! However, the point is clear. The reality of what was to come, and me knowing it was coming, removed the natural tendency to be impatient waiting for something as good as strawberry ice cream! I"m quite sure you are all capable of drawing the conclusions I've pointed you towards, so I shall end by saying the ice cream was the best I've tasted in a very long time.
